Dr. Lisa Guion Jones

Professor of Higher Education
Dr. Lisa Guion Jones has over 20 years of experience in higher education. While successfully rising up through the professorial ranks at two research-intensive, top-tier public universities, Dr. Jones taught graduate and undergraduate courses, chaired graduate student committees, served as academic advisor for undergraduates, advised student clubs, as well as served on courses and curriculum, tenure and promotion and other key committees.
Dr. Jones currently serves as Associate Provost for Strategy and Special Assistant to the President at the University of Central Florida (UCF), a position she’s held since August 2016. In this role, she works closely with UCF’s faculty, staff and key leaders across campus to facilitate the institutionalization of the new Collective Impact strategic plan. She developed a framework, processes, templates, and other resources to facilitate development of a UCF Institutionalization Plan that will be forthcoming. She also works to improve knowledge sharing, collaboration, collective thinking, collective action and co-ownership of university-wide priority metrics across the institution. Another role at UCF involves leading an institution-wide effort to create a more comprehensive and collaborative approach to community engagement. She is also a Professor in the College of Education and Human Performance.
She is currently an Academy for Innovative Higher Education Leadership Fellow (2016-17), a former American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow and Food Systems Leadership Fellow, and a graduate of the Harvard Management and Leadership in Education program.
Dr. Jones earned a BA in Business Administration, Master’s Degree in Public Administration specializing in higher education administration, and a Doctorate in Education in 1997 focused on adult and higher education all from NC State University while working a full-time professional job.
